Let the MLS All-Star festivities begin.
Russell Teibert and the MLS Homegrown team are set to meet Club America’s U-20 squad tonight in the second annual Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. PT at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and the match will be streamed live on MLSsoccer.com.
Teibert, who was a standout during last year’s Homegrown Game, joined the Whitecaps FC Residency program in 2008 and has been a member of the club ever since. The 22-year-old Niagara Falls native is one of eight Homegrown players on Vancouver’s MLS roster, which is a league-high.
Fellow Homegrown midfielder Kianz Froese was also named to the MLS Homegrown squad, but he had to pull out after suffering a left hamstring strain. Prior to that, Froese spoke to MLSsoccer.com about his “road to the Homegrown Game.” Watch the interview below.
