Canada Soccer announced on Friday that three Vancouver Whitecaps FC BMO Academy players have been selected for a Canada U-15 national team camp at the ANFP Federación de Fútbol de Chile facility in Santiago, Chile.
Included on the team are defender Elliott Kim, midfielder Oliver Hirang McColl, and forward Yele Dazirignon.
This is a joint camp with Canada's U-16 national team which includes six 'Caps players, and both sides will each play a pair of friendly matches against Chile
CANM15, under head coach David Cerasuolo, will face Chile on:
- Wednesday, August 19
- Saturday, August 22
CANM16, head coach Adam Miller, will face Chile on:
- Thursday, August 20
- Sunday, August 23
This camp represents an important step in the development of both age groups. For the U-15 players, it's about creating a positive first experience representing Canada, helping them understand the standards, expectations, and pride that come with wearing the badge.
FIFA announced in January 2025 that the FIFA U-17 World Cup™ will expand to 48 teams and move to an annual cycle from 2025 through 2029. With a World Cup on the calendar every year rather than every two, consistent high-level testing at the U-15 and U-16 levels plays an increasingly important role in preparing players for qualifying for the U-17 World Cup.
