VANCOUVER, BC – Hello, 2018.


The new year is upon us and that means the start of another Major League Soccer season is just around the corner. But first things first: here are three things to look out for in the month of January.


SCHEDULE RELEASE

Later this week, MLS is expected to release the complete 2018 regular season schedule.


We already know that Vancouver Whitecaps FC will play host to Montreal Impact on Sunday, March 4 at BC Place to open the season. But that’s all we know at this point.

MLS PLAYER COMBINE AND SUPERDRAFT

Top college, youth, and international players will assemble in Orlando from January 11-17 in hopes of impressing MLS technical staffs ahead of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, which will be held on January 19 in Philadelphia. As it stands, the ‘Caps own the following picks:


  • Round 1: 17th overall
  • Round 3: 62nd overall
  • Round 4: 86th overall


START OF MLS PRESEASON

Players will report to their respective clubs on January 22 for the first day of the preseason.


The ‘Caps will train in Vancouver for 10 days before heading off to Hawaii for a 10-day camp that will include their first preseason matches of 2018.
