Top home matches of 2020 + Legends & Stars confirmed for September 14

The 2020 MLS season is approaching fast and as
single match tickets are on sale now
, let’s look at Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s six home matches to look out for during the upcoming season.
Saturday, February 29 vs. Sporting Kansas City
To start off, it has to be the home opener.
The ‘Caps first match of the 2020 MLS season is one you don’t want to miss.
These two teams have had several heated battles over the past few years.
There have been memorable moments like Derek Cornelius’ last-minute equalizer last year, and other moments we won’t talk about.

Watch this one as Whitecaps FC’s new star striker Lucas Cavallini plays his first match for the club.
And lining up across from him is another big name arrival to MLS, Cavallini’s former Liga MX rival, Alan Pulido.
Saturday, April 11 vs. Los Angeles Football Club
The next big one on the schedule is the arrival of last season’s record-breaking team LAFC.
LAFC only suffered four losses last season, but one of those came in the 1-0 Whitecaps FC win at BC Place.

Marc Dos Santos will look to better his former club again as they travel north of the border for this April matchup.
It will be tough for LAFC’s Canadian Mark-Anthony Kaye and reigning MLS MVP Carlos Vela against a revamped Whitecaps FC team.
Fans will be keen to see how far the ‘Caps have come. This will be a big-time test to see where they stand in the league pecking order.
Saturday, June 13 vs. Seattle Sounders FC
It’s always a big match when a Cascadia rival comes to Vancouver and this year is no exception.
Two tight matchups against last season’s MLS Cup champions ended in heartbreak for Vancouver, but Dos Santos’ squad will be looking for all three points this time.

And to make this an even bigger and better occasion, this summer’s matchup is also Pride Night at BC Place.
The atmosphere will be electrifying at this match as the excitement of a visit from a Cascadia rival mixes with the inclusivity promoted during the ‘Caps eight-annual Pride Night in partnership Out for Kicks.
Saturday, July 25 vs. LA Galaxy
Last season’s dramatic 4-3 win over the Galaxy in Los Angeles shows that it’s always an entertaining match between these two teams.

Even without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, this year’s matchup will be another big occasion.
That 4-3 win down in LA featured breakout performances from both Theo Bair and Inbeom Hwang, could we see someone else do that this year?
There are always eyes on the Galaxy, so this will be another statement game for the ‘Caps.
Saturday, September 19 vs. Houston Dynamo
Just like last year, when the Dynamo come to town so will the celebrities.

September 19 is the date for the fourth annual Legends & Stars match which brings celebrities and Whitecaps FC alumni together to raise money for Whitecaps FC community partners.
The 2020 edition of the match will be played before the match against Houston.
Last year’s match featured Vancouver-born actor Jacob Tremblay, best known for his starring roles as Jack in Room, August in Wonder, and most recently Max in Good Boys, Supernatural star Jensen Ackles, Ross Lynch from Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and many more.
Sunday, October 4 vs. Portland Timbers
To wrap-up the 2020 MLS season, another Cascadia rival visits Vancouver.
This will be the fourth time the ‘Caps have finished their regular season against Portland and to make this match even more special the season finale is also Fan Appreciation Day.

Fan Appreciation Day will feature prizes and giveaways as the ‘Caps look to end the regular season strongly on the pitch.
And this battle could mean just as much on the field as it does off it, as playoff-positioning could be on the line as the season finishes.
