Vite named to MLS Team of Matchday 10

VANCOUVER, BC – Major League Soccer announced on Monday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Pedro Vite has been named to the MLS Team of Matchday 10 after a 3-1 win at Allianz Field.

The Ecuadorian maestro earns his second selection of the season (Matchday 1). After coming on as a substitute in the 63rd minute, Vite immediately supercharged the 'Caps by finishing off two brilliant team goals in his first seven minutes on the field. First, he combined with Daniel Ríos and J.C. Ngando before lobbing the ball past goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair. Four minutes later, he struck home a goal after a set-up from Ngando and Ali Ahmed.

Nine different Whitecaps FC members have been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday this season. In addition to Vite, the 'Caps have also had head coach Jesper Sørensen (Matchday 4, Matchday 8) defenders Édier Ocampo (Matchday 9), Tristan Blackmon (Matchday 4, Matchday 7), and Mathías Laborda (Matchday 3), midfielder Sebastian Berhalter (Matchday 4), and forwards Jayden Nelson (Matchday 1), Emmanuel Sabbi (Matchday 8), and Brian White (Matchday 2, Matchday 8).

The 'Caps are back in action for the highly anticipated second leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals against Inter Miami CF this coming Wednesday, April 30 at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
