Canada’s U-20 co-captain will return to Vancouver FC on loan through the remainder of CPL season
VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Wednesday that the club has acquired Canadian youth international midfielder Emrick Fotsing via transfer from Canadian Premier League (CPL) side Vancouver FC. The 18-year-old has agreed to a contract through the 2029-30 Major League Soccer season, with a club option for the 2030-31 season.
As part of the agreement, Fotsing, who suffered a hip injury while on international duty with Canada’s U-20 side, will rehabilitate with the ’Caps sports medicine and science team before returning to Vancouver FC on loan in September for the remainder of the 2026 CPL season. He will then join Vancouver Whitecaps FC ahead of the 2027 MLS Sprint Season.
“Emrick is a player we have been watching closely,” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director. “He has continued his development, going from the CF Montréal Academy to Vancouver FC and impressing with Canada’s youth national teams. We will continue to keep a close eye on his development in Langley with head coach Martin Nash and assistant coach Nick Dasovic, and we look forward to bringing him into our group in the coming months.”
