VANCOUVER, BC – Going global. Vancouver Whitecaps FC are the highest ranked MLS club in Opta Analyst's latest Opta Global Power Rankings.
The Opta Global Power Rankings are a global team ranking system that assigns an ability score to over 13,000 men’s domestic football teams and over 2,000 women’s domestic football teams on a rating scale between zero and 100, where zero is the worst-ranked team in the world and 100 is the best team in the world. The Power Rankings are updated daily and currently rank teams from 183 different countries and 413 unique domestic leagues. More information on how the Power Ranking are calculated is available here.
Thanks to their club-record 10W-2L-5D (35 points) start to the MLS regular season and their run to the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup final, the 'Caps rank 120th in the world at the time of writing, sitting above teams such as Boca Juniors, CF Monterrey, Sunderland, RB Salzburg, and Botafogo.
Of the 30 clubs in MLS, Vancouver is the highest ranked team, with Philadelphia Union in second (126), Columbus Crew in third (132) and LAFC in fourth (165). The Blue and White are also the fourth-highest ranked team in Concacaf, with 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup winners Cruz Azul (73) leading the way.
