’Caps host LAFC in MLS feature match, Sunday Night Soccer presented by Continental Tire

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC are expecting the club’s largest crowd for an MLS regular season match so far this year when the ’Caps host rivals Los Angeles FC in the league’s feature match of the week – Sunday Night Soccer presented by Continental Tire. Kick from BC Place is set for 4 p.m. PT, for information on all ticket options, visit whitecapsfc.com/tickets.

More than 21,000 fans are expected for this Mother’s Day matinee match-up between the league-leading ’Caps and the perennial contenders from California. Whitecaps FC have played LAFC an incredible 12 times over the previous two seasons. Outside of regular season play, the two sides met in the 2023 Concacaf Champions Cup, the 2024 Leagues Cup, and the past two years in the MLS Cup Playoffs.

In MLS play, Whitecaps FC kicked off this season with an energetic crowd of 21,124 at the regular season home opening win over defending MLS Cup champions LA Galaxy. Earlier this year, a club MLS-era record crowd of 53,837 attended the ā€˜Caps Concacaf Champions Cup semifinal first leg against Inter Miami CF, as the Blue & White took their first step in advancing to a historic first Concacaf final.

The ā€˜Caps are on a 10-match unbeaten run in all competitions, including a four-match winning streak. The Blue & White head into Matchday 11 in first place in the overall MLS Supporters’ Shield standings and are the first team since the 2010 LA Galaxy to earn at least 26 points from the first 11 matches. Head coach Jesper SĆørensen and his team have accomplished this while also balancing a historic run to the final of the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup, set for Sunday, June 1 against Cruz Azul at Estadio OlĆmpico Universitario in Mexico City, Mexico.

LAFC are currently on 17 points, nine points back of the ā€˜Caps in the Western Conference. Since bowing out of the Concacaf Champions Cup, the Black & Gold have gone on a four-match unbeaten streak.
