VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Thursday that the club has signed Canadian international defender Ralph Priso to a contract extension through the 2028-29 Major League Soccer season, with a club option for the 2029-30 season.

“Ralph is a great example of another important part of our player development model,” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director. “Alongside developing players through our own academy and bringing in young talent from abroad, we have also become a successful platform for players with MLS experience who still have significant potential to unlock. Ralph came to us with a strong foundation and has continued to develop into a more complete player. His growth over the past two seasons, both with our club and now at the international level, is a testament to the work he has put in and the environment we have created here. We’re very pleased that he has committed his future to the club, and we believe there is still much more to come from him.”

  • 42 starts in 79 appearances across all competitions for Whitecaps FC
  • 2025 MLS Western Conference Championship winner
  • Back-to-back TELUS Canadian Championship winner with Whitecaps FC
  • Two appearances with Canada’s men’s national team

“I’m extremely happy to extend my contract in Vancouver,” added Priso. “I’m so grateful to my teammates, the coaching staff, and everyone at the club for the role they’ve played in my growth and development. I can’t wait to continue this journey together and keep working toward our goal of bringing the MLS Cup to our fans.”

So far in 2026, Priso has started nine of his 13 appearances across all competitions, scoring once. The 24-year-old enjoyed a breakout year in 2025 with the ‘Caps, as he started 25 of his 46 appearances across all competitions, which included a stretch of seven starts in the final eight matches of the season. Priso showed his versatility during that stretch as he converted from midfield into a centre back role and scored his first goal for the club with a dramatic, last-gasp equalizer at FC Dallas on November 1 in the second match of the MLS Cup Playoffs Round One, Best-Of-3 Series. Priso also recorded three assists throughout the year.

All-time, Priso has started 42 of his 79 appearances across all competitions for Whitecaps FC since joining the club via trade from Colorado Rapids in March 2024. He is also a two-time TELUS Canadian Championship winner with the 'Caps.

Priso’s success in Vancouver has earned him a pair of call-ups to the Canadian men’s national team, making his debut in a friendly against Iceland in March and then receiving his first official start against Tunisia in the same window. He also came off the bench in a 2-0 win over Uzbekistan on June 1.

TRANSACTION: On August 13, 2026, Whitecaps FC sign defender Ralph Priso to a contract extension through the 2028-29 season, with a club option for 2029-30.
