Whitecaps FC sign WFC2 wingback Chris Lee to second MLS short-term agreement

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Wednesday that the club has signed Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) wingback Chris Lee to a second MLS short-term agreement for tonight's MLS regular season away match against FC Cincinnati at TQL Stadium.

Lee, 20, becomes the first WFC2 player to receive two call-ups to the first team this season, having signed an MLS short-term agreement for the club's last home match against Minnesota United FC on July 8. Lee is one of six WFC2 players that have been called-up including Emiliano Brienza, Ali Ahmed, Vasco Fry, Max Anchor, Ben Alexander.

In MLS NEXT Pro action, Lee has started two of his nine appearances with WFC2 this season.

The North Vancouver product originally joined the Whitecaps FC BMO MLS Academy in 2015 from Mountain United FC, while also previously playing with West Vancouver FC.

From 2020 to 2021, Lee played U Sports collegiately for the University of British Columbia (UBC), helping the Thunderbirds win the Canada West title in 2021. That year, he was selected fifth overall by Pacific FC in the 2021 CPL-U Sports Draft, going on to make three CPL starts for the club.

At the international level, Lee was called up to Canada’s U-15 national team in 2016.
