VANCOUVER, BC – The Battle for BC is back.
In a match dubbed the “Ferryside Derby” by supporters, Vancouver Whitecaps FC will travel to Vancouver Island to face Canadian Premier League (CPL) side Pacific FC in the Canadian Championship semifinals on Wednesday, May 24. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT at Starlight Stadium, Langford, BC.
Information on away supporter tickets will be announced soon. Whitecaps FC will seek redemption in this all-British Columbia semifinal, which will be a rematch from just two years ago when Pacific FC pulled off the upset with a 4-3 win at Starlight Stadium in the Canadian Championship Preliminary Round.
The winner of this semifinal will host the 2023 Canadian Championship Final between June 6-8 against the winner of the other semifinal between MLS team CF Montréal and CPL side Forge FC of Hamilton. Last year, Whitecaps FC won their second Voyageurs Cup when they hosted the final in front of 24,307 fans at BC Place.
Canada Soccer’s Canadian Championship, also known as the Battle of the North, is the nation’s highest men’s domestic competition featuring clubs from coast to coast across the country, notably professional teams in MLS and CPL, as well as league winners in League1 BC, League1 Ontario and Ligue1 Québec (Première ligue de soccer du Québec).
Winners of the 2023 Canadian Championship lift the Voyageurs Cup and qualify to the annual international competition, Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League. Winners of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup.
