BURNABY, BC – Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) continued to bring through young players on Sunday, as the young 'Caps fell to Real Monarchs 3-1.
Whitecaps FC BMO Academy product Jesse Peace made his first start for head coach Rich Fagan on the backline, as well as striker Kevin Podgorni up top.
After a scoreless opening 35 minutes, Izzy Amparo finished a header for Real Monarchs to make it 1-0.
Moments into the second half, Vance Parker made it 2-0 for the visitors.
However, WFC2 responded immediately, forcing an own goal to cut the deficit to 2-1.
But the Monarchs would restore their two-goal lead only two minutes later through Kobi Henry heading it in after a corner kick for a 3-1 advantage.
The second half saw two more debuts for Whitecaps FC BMO Academy products, with attacker Aiden Bejaoui and midfielder Manav Badwal both subbing on.
In the end, Real Monarchs would hold on for the victory.

WFC2 are back at Swangard Stadium on Friday, June 5 against Portland's Timbers2. Kickoff will be at 6 p.m. PT.
