HERRIMAN, UT – Whitecaps FC 2 played to a 1-1 draw against Premier League 2 (PL2) side Crystal Palace U-21 in the MLS NEXT Pro Invitational at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, Utah on Tuesday. The sides then went to a shootout, with Crystal Palace taking the victory.
After a scoreless first half, Lowell Wright opened the scoring with his first official goal for the club in the 57th minute, after a pass from Elage Bah.
But Crystal Palace would strike back in the 72nd minute on a great strike from Chimaechi Eze, assisted by Rio Cardines.
In the shootout, Kam Habibullah, Antoine Coupland, and Christian Greco-Taylor converted, while Max Anchor made one stop, but shots from Fry and Wright were missed as the visitors from England celebrated at the end.
WFC2 are right back in action this Sunday, July 30 when they travel down the I-5 to take on Tacoma Defiance at 12 p.m. PT at Starfire Sports Stadium.
