Whitecaps FC and Manitoba Soccer Association to host Identification Camps

Manitoba announcement

Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the Manitoba Soccer Association (MSA) have announced their first development camps in Manitoba this summer. These will include four Player Identification Camps running August 30 to September 4, and two Regional Camps running August 24 to 27. Both camps will be targeted to boys and girls U-9 to U-12.

“We’re really pleased to be launching our first soccer programs in Manitoba this summer as part of our announced partnership with the Manitoba Soccer Association,” said Whitecaps director of soccer development Dan Lenarduzzi.

“We have tried to include a blend of ID camps that will help us to identify players for upcoming Whitecaps FC and MSA Prospects training programs as well as regional camps in partnership with selected clubs,” added MSA technical director Marinos Papageorgopoulos.  “We hope to build on these regional camps with interested clubs next summer.”

During the Player ID camps, boys and girls will have an opportunity to train and showcase their talent in front of Whitecaps FC academy director and Pre-Residency head coach Bart Choufour, as well as MSA coaching staff. Players identified will be invited to join the new Whitecaps FC MSA Pre-Prospects program starting in early 2016. This program will be used as a feeder into the Whitecaps FC MSA Residency Boys Prospects and Girls Elite REX programs (formerly the National Development Centre program).

The ID Camps will be hosted in partnership with four of Manitoba’s district clubs: FC Northwest Soccer Club, Phoenix Soccer Club, St. Charles Youth Soccer Association, and Winnipeg South End United.  Each club will host three training sessions. Players will follow Whitecaps FC training methods and receive a camp T-shirt.

For the Regional Camps, players will have an opportunity to experience Whitecaps FC professional training methods led by Vancouver coaching staff. Players will get high quality coaching in a fun and competitive environment. These camps will be hosted in partnership with two local Manitoba clubs; Hanover Soccer Club and Tri-S Soccer Club. Each club will be hosting four training sessions led by Whitecaps FC and MSA coaching staff and supported by MSA certified club coaches from the host clubs.

Space is limited for all camps.
