By virtue of their second place finish, the ‘Caps have earned a first round bye and will face the higher remaining seed among the two Knockout Round winners. Whitecaps FC will play Portland Timbersin the Conference Semifinals, should they win their Knockout Round match against Sporting Kansas City on Thursday. If Kansas City wins, the ‘Caps will play the winner of Wednesday's Seattle Sounders FC against LA Galaxy Knockout Round match.
