Whitecaps FC confirm preseason friendlies in Marbella, announce camp in Coachella Valley

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed on Thursday that the club is set to play four preseason friendlies during their camp in Marbella, Spain. In addition, the 'Caps announced a Indio, California camp as part of the Coachella Valley Invitational from February 15 to 21.

Marbella preseason matches

  • January 20 vs. DiósgyÅ‘ri VTK (2:30 a.m PT / 11:30 a.m. local time)
  • January 22 vs. Puskás Akadémia (5:30 a.m PT / 2:30 p.m. local time)
  • January 27 vs. FK TSC (kickoff TBC)
  • January 30 vs. FK Haugesund (5 a.m PT / 2 p.m. local time)

The ‘Caps will play four matches at the Marbella Football Center in San Pedro Alcántara, Spain, with updates and recaps at whitecapsfc.com and on Whitecaps FC social media channels.

The preseason match schedule will start with a pair of games against Hungarian first division sides. This weekend, the 'Caps will take on Diósgyőri VTK on January 20, with kickoff set for 2:30 a.m PT / 11:30 a.m. local time. The second friendly will see the Blue and White face Puskás Akadémia on January 22. Kickoff is set for 5:30 a.m. PT / 2:30 p.m. local time.

Vancouver then play FK TSC of the Serbian SuperLiga on January 27, with kickoff time to be confirmed. The ‘Caps will wrap-up the camp against Norwegian side FK Haugesund on January 30, with kickoff set for 5 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. local time.

After concluding their camp in Spain, the ’Caps will return to Vancouver on February 1 in advance of their Concacaf Champions Cup Round One first leg against Tigres UANL on February 7 at Starlight Stadium, Langford, BC.

The team will then depart to Monterrey, Mexico on February 12 ahead of the second leg at Estadio Universitario on February 14.

The Blue and White will then travel to California from February 15 to 21, where they will play a closed door friendly against Western Conference rivals San Jose Earthquakes on February 17 at Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

Following the camp, the team will travel back to Vancouver on February 21 to continue preparations for their 2024 MLS regular season home opener against Charlotte FC on March 2 at BC Place. The match is included in the club’s Golden Era Pack, which also features the 50th anniversary match against Austin FC on May 4, the first-ever matchup against Inter Miami CF on May 25, and the playoff rematch against Los Angeles FC on August 24.
