Whitecaps FC look to extend winning run on Saturday in the Big Apple

Preview vs. NYCFC - Felipe

VANCOUVER, BC – After an entertaining 4-2 victory over playoff rivals Minnesota United FC last weekend, Vancouver Whitecaps FC visit Yankee Stadium on Saturday to face New York City FC as they try and make it three wins in a row and climb into a playoff place in the Western Conference.

KICKOFF: 5 p.m. PT  |  TV: TSN2  | RADIO: 1410 AM

Davies in NYC: Alphonso Davies, who's coming straight from the 2018 MLS All-Star festivities midweek, may have the opportunity to showcase his skills in front of the New York audience. He's grabbed the headlines in his last two outings, scoring three highlight-reel goals and tallying two assists at D.C. and versus Minnesota.

Encore from Reyna? In their last meeting, Yordy Reyna stole the show from star-studded NYCFC with a late game-winner in his home debut in July 2017. His goal and assist versus Minnesota last week came in typical electrifying fashion, and he looks primed to provide the heroics once again.

Bicho at 100: Cristian Techera is hoping to make his 100th MLS appearance, including playoffs. He has 22 goals and 16 assists, with the 'Caps going undefeated with a 23W-0L-9D record when he has figured in the score sheet.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC: 4-2 win vs. Minnesota United FC
New York City FC: 3-1 loss at Seattle Sounders FC

Vancouver Whitecaps FC: Kei Kamara (9 goals)
New York City FC: Maximiliano Moralez, David Villa and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi (all 8 goals)

Alphonso Davies is only the fifth Whitecaps FC player to represent the club in the MLS All-Star Game, joining Jay DeMerit (2012), Camilo (2013), David Ousted (2015) and current club captain Kendall Waston (2016).
