Whitecaps FC mourn the passing of John Burns

Vancouver Whitecaps FC are mourning the passing of former club scout John Burns.

Burns apprenticed in his native England at Stoke City FC under Bob McGrory and Manchester United FC under Sir Matt Busby. He moved to Canada with his wife Hazel in 1957.

He devoted countless hours to the BC youth soccer scene, and the development of young players. He served in several capacities with Vancouver Whitecaps FC from the start of the club in 1974, through the conclusion of the NASL in 1984.

The family asks that if you wish, you may remember John through a memorial donation to the Burnaby Hospital Complex Palliative Care Unit or the Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network, or by taking in a local youth soccer game.
