VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Friday the re-launch of whitecapsfc.com with a modernized technical platform that was built to adapt. The fully responsive website will deliver a consistent, seamless experience across mobile, tablet, laptop, and desktop screens.

“Mobile and tablet traffic to our site, as well as the league’s and other clubs' websites, has grown exponentially in recent years,” said Whitecaps FC chief operating officer Rachel Lewis. “The new site adapts to each device, while at the same time doing so in a highly visual, user-friendly platform.”

The new platform uses the latest technologies to provide a quicker site with improved stability and robust capabilities that will allow for easier innovation in the future.

In addition, the new stylish design, with a mobile first mindset, creates a highly visual and clean interface with less clutter. The update will also provide easier access to great content including enhanced videos in high definition, larger/higher quality photos, and updated information organized to be more user friendly.

Whitecaps FC join New York City FC, New York Red Bulls, Orlando City SC, and Seattle Sounders FC to have received the updated v7 CMS. By the end of the year, all MLS clubs will be using MLS Digital’s centralized CMS platform.

This platform allows MLS to collectively invest in digital technology while allowing each club the flexibility to manage content and editorial from a local perspective. The latest version of the content management system is a customized version of Drupal 7 and takes advantage of innovation created by MLS Digital to deliver news, video, stats, and social content to supporters and fans. In addition, the new site makes extensive use of cloud hosting technology to automatically scale based on demand from supporters.

Since 2011, Whitecaps FC's first season in MLS, whitecapsfc.com has had more than five million visitors and over 31 million page views. The club boasts one of the largest social media followings in Major League Soccer with over 159,000 followers on Twitter, 158,000 likes on Facebook, and 93,000 followers on Instagram.

In addition to the new website, Whitecaps FC have also made recent updates to the club’s mobile app, ‘Caps App. Featured on the ‘Caps App are exclusive special offers, a new and improved schedule, and breaking news, photos and videos. Stay engaged with the club by browsing and interacting with the ‘Caps Twitter and Instagram feeds right in the app, and find all the information needed for the game including live stats, play-by-play, shot charts, lineups, bios, standings, rosters, and more.
