VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC selected forward Nazeem Bartman on Tuesday morning in the fourth round (73rd overall) of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. Bartman was Vancouver's fourth and final selection of the draft, joining right back Jakob Nerwinski (seventh overall), centre back Francis de Vries (29th overall), and midfielder/forward Jorge Gomez Sanchez (51st overall).

Bartman, 23, spent the last two seasons with the University of South Florida Bulls of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) American Athletic Conference, recording 14 goals and nine assists in 37 appearances and earning back-to-back first team All-American Athletic Conference selections.


Prior to that, Bartman had 33 goals and 17 assists in 39 appearances with Tyler Junior College of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), earning NJCAA player of the year honours after leading the Texan side to a national title in 2014. 


A native of Cape Town, South Africa, Bartman spent time with Ajax Cape Town, Old Mutual Academy, and Super Short Academy before relocating to the United States.
