Whitecaps FC sign striker Simon Becher to second MLS short-term agreement

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Friday that the club has signed Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) striker Simon Becher to an MLS short-term agreement for Saturday’s MLS regular season road match against Colorado Rapids. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. PT - TV: TSN4, RADIO: AM730, ONLINE: TSN Direct.

Becher, 23, receives his second call-up this season after previously joining the first team for their home match against Houston Dynamo FC on August 5, when he scored his first MLS goal to help the club claim a 2-1 comeback victory.

The forward becomes the third WFC2 player to receive two call-ups to the first team this season, following wingbacks Ali Ahmed and Chris Lee.

This season, Becher has tallied seven goals and added three assists across 19 starts and 21 appearances with WFC2.

The native of Brooklyn, Connecticut was selected 16th overall by Whitecaps FC in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft out of Saint Louis University. Becher finished tied for first in NCAA goal contributions with 14 goals and 10 assists in his final season.
