VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Saturday that Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) defender Trevor Wright has been signed to an MLS short-term agreement for today's regular season home match against LAFC.
This is the first time Wright has signed a short-term agreement with the first team and joins WFC2 forward Johnny Selemani as the second player to be called up this season.
Wright, 24, was signed by WFC2 back in January after playing four seasons at the University of Denver. So far this year, Wright has started 19 of his 20 appearances in MLS NEXT Pro for the young 'Caps, captaining the side and scoring twice.Â
Prior to joining WFC2, Wright also captained the University of Denver Pioneers in both 2024 and 2025. Over his career, he shares the team record with 85 matches started, finishing with nine goals and seven assists. Last season, Wright was the 2025 Summit League Defensive Player of the Year, adding to his United Soccer Coaches All-West Region First Team (2022, 2025), Summit League First Team (2022, 2025), and Summit League Second Team (2024).
In his youth, the native of Castle Rock, Colorado played with Real Colorado.
