Whitecaps wrap up free kicks

Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Wendy's Restaurants completed this years free community clinics with big weekends in the Okanagan and Victoria reaching over 450 youths for the sold out free clinic events.

On Saturday October 24, the Whitecaps were in Kelowna partnering with Kelowna United to host a free community clinic for up to 190 youths at the Mission Sports Fields. The next day, the Caps’ partnered with Kamloops Youth Soccer Association to entertain over 150 boys and girls at a jam-packed community clinic at Hillside Stadium in Kamloops.

The following Sunday November 1, the Whitecaps visited Victoria in partnership with the Lower Island Soccer Association, where over 140 players filled all the available spots for the free clinic at Alex Campbell Field at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence.

Boys and girls ages 6 to 10 (U7 to U11) enjoyed coaching from Whitecaps Men’s and Women’s team players and coaches. Youths got the chance to practice their soccer moves in an opening skills session, followed by a Wendy's World Cup Tournament, autographs, and fun prizes. Thanks to the Wendy's and Whitecaps partnership there was no cost for participants to attend.

"On behalf of Wendy's and the Whitecaps, I want to thank our local club partners for hosting the Whitecaps and partnering with us to help grow the game of soccer," said Whitecaps Director of youth Dan Lenarduzzi. “This included Kelowna United and in particular President Mark Krehel, KYSA (Kamloops Youth Soccer Association) Executive Director- Keith Liddiard, President Graham Cope and Head Coach – Tom McManus, and the Lower Island Soccer Association and Executive Director Sharon Marejka.”
