A young, dynamic centre back, Érik Godoy brings eight years of top-tier Superliga Argentina experience to Vancouver after joining Whitecaps FC on a one-year loan from Club Atlético Colón in February 2019.
2019: Godoy was honoured with the WFC Jock MacDonald Unsung Hero award following his first season in Vancouver, recording 28 starts in 29 MLS appearances, with a goal and an assist. His 32 blocks was only three off the MLS single-regular season record, and was tied for sixth-highest ever. He also added 127 clearances, good for ninth in MLS. He also played every minute of the 'Caps two Canadian Championship matches.
‘11-’18: Prior to joining Whitecaps FC, Godoy played the past eight years in his native Argentina with Tigre, Belgrano, and Colón. He made over 140 starts in the top tier Superliga Argentina, also known as the Primera División, as well 10 appearances in the Copa Argentina. In that time the native of Buenos Aires scored six goals in all competitions. In international cup competition, Godoy made one start in the Copa Libertadores with Tigre, as well as seven starts in the Copa Sudamericana with both Tigre, where he started the second leg of the final in 2012, and most recently with Colón in 2018.
