Career Summary

PROFILE
A modern attacking fullback, Jordan Smith joined Whitecaps FC at the close of the 2015 secondary international transfer window on loan through the end of the year with an option to extend or transfer from Costa Rica’s Primera División side Deportivo Saprissa. At the conclusion of the 2015 season, his loan was extended through the end of 2016.

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
2016:
Smith started in 15 of his 17 regular season appearances in his second MLS season, finishing third on the team with 51 tackles. In the Week 12 match against Houston Dynamo, Smith set a club MLS record for most tackles in a single match with 11. 2015: Smith made his MLS debut at Houston on August 29, recording a team-high four clearances. He finished the season with four starts in seven league appearances.

CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
2016:
Smith made two appearances in the Champions League, starting the first two matches of group stage, on the road versus Central FC and at home versus Sporting Kansas City in August. 2015: Smith started two matches in CCL action for Whitecaps FC. 2014: Smith made five CCL starts as a member of Deportivo Saprissa. 

AMWAY CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP
2016:
Smith started his lone ACC appearance, playing the full 90 minutes in the 3-0 win over Ottawa Fury FC in the second leg of the semifinal on June 8.

COSTA RICA
During the 2014-15 season in Costa Rica’s Primera División, Smith scored four goals in 32 appearances while helping Saprissa capture the 2014 Verano title. In five seasons with El Monstruo Morado, the fullback scored nine goals in 105 regular season appearances. Smith also had a loan spell with French side Le Havre AC during the 2010-11 season, which saw him make six appearances with their reserve side.

INTERNATIONAL
On the international stage, the native of San José, Costa Rica has earned two senior caps with Los Ticos - a 1-0 friendly win over Canada at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta on May 28, 2013, and a 1-0 friendly road loss to Venezuela on February 2, 2016. Smith also featured for Costa Rica at the FIFA U-17 and U-20 World Cups. In December 2015, Smith was called up to the senior national team for their friendly versus Nicaragua, along with Whitecaps FC teammate Kendall Waston.
