A consistent and reliable MLS veteran right back with proven postseason success, Sean Franklin joined Whitecaps FC via free agency in February 2018 after 10 years with LA Galaxy and D.C. United. He is a two-time MLS Cup winner (2011, 2012), two-time Supporters' Shield winner (2010, 2011), two-time MLS All-Star (2011, 2014), and is the 2008 MLS Rookie of the Year awardee. Franklin ranks among the top MLS leaders among active players with 21 starts, 22 appearances, 1,994 minutes played and four assists in the MLS Cup Playoffs. 

D.C. UNITED
'14-'17: Franklin recorded four goals and eight assists in 104 starts and 113 appearances across all competitions in four years with D.C. United, earning an MLS All-Star selection in his first season with the Eastern Conference side. 

LA GALAXY
'08-'13: Franklin tallied seven goals and 29 assists in 182 starts an 195 appearances in his first six years as a professional. Selected fourth overall by LA Galaxy in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, Franklin went on to win MLS Rookie of the Year and LA Galaxy Defender of the Year. He helped LA win consecutive MLS Cup titles in 2011 and 2012, and back-to-back Supporters' Shield finishes in 2010 and 2011, while earning his first MLS All-Star selection in 2011.

COLLEGE
'04-'07: Franklin starred for California State University, Northridge where he was named to the All-Big West Conference Team after each of his four seasons, earning a First Team selection three times. 

INTERNATIONAL
Born and raised in Southern California, Franklin has made one international friendly appearance for the United States men's national team, and also previously represented his country in the U-20 and U-23 levels.
