Beckham meets the media

A day before the much-anticipated friendly between Vancouver Whitecaps and Loa Angeles Galaxy, members of both teams met the gathering media on Tuesday morning. Whitecaps play-by-play broadcaster Peter Schaad from TEAM 1040 was the Master of Ceremonies for the pre-game press conference at the Pan Pacific Hotel in downtown Vancouver, as members from the local print, radio and television media got their first formal opportunity to meet Galaxy star midfielder David Beckham. At the head table, the Whitecaps were represented by president Bob Lenarduzzi, midfielder Martin Nash, and interim head coach Todd Wawrousek. All three spoke of their excitement and enthusiasm for Wednesday’s friendly at BC Place. The Galaxy, meanwhile, were also represented by their president and general manager Alexi Lalas, as well as their interim head coach Trevor James. The pair also expressed how much they looked forward to Wednesday’s match with their Canadian hosts. Many of the questions asked were fielded by the former England captain, who was in good spirits during his first-ever visit to Vancouver. On Wednesday, Beckham will make his Canadian debut on the pitch when he faces the Whitecaps on the BC Place turf. Naturally, there has been plenty of coverage on the international friendly, with various stories that have been published as part of the build-up.
