- THE BUZZ
Now you see them. Now you don't. The 1-1 Vancouver Whitecaps play their first of only two home games in May tomorrow when the 0-2 Rochester Rhinos, coached by ex-Whitecap Darren Tilley, make their only regular season appearance at Swangard Stadium. (7 p.m. Team 1040 and team1040.ca).
- GOALS? WHAT GOALS
The Whitecaps promised more scoring but have yet to deliver. Eduardo Sebrango has Vancouver's only marker from the season-opening 1-0 win over the Montreal Impact on April 12.
- NO ARZE
Bolivian midfielder/forward Vicente Arze has gone back to school temporarily to finish his business and market- ing degree at Mercer University in Macon, Ga. Other Caps' injuries included defender Geordie Lyall (thigh), Jason Jordan (back) and goalkeeper Jay Nolly (knee).
- GO FISH
Steve Guppy, formerly of Leicester City and Celtic, is Tilley's playing assistant. The Rhinos come to Vancouver after playing the Portland Timbers last night. They visit the Seattle Sounders on Wednesday.
- HERE ZE COMES AGAIN
Brazilian Jose Roberto Gomes Santana - otherwise known as Ze Roberto - returns to Swangard with the Rhinos. He played in six games for the Whitecaps in 2007 after coming east from the Montreal Impact in a trade. He registered no points, but was cited for 10 fouls.
- NAME GAME Last season they were the Rochester Raging Rhinos, but now they're not Raging anymore. The club is following a trend in pro sports to drop the middle name.
- ON THE ROAD AGAIN
The Whitecaps are the "home" team in Edmonton, Tuesday, when David Beckham and the L.A. Galaxy visit Commonwealth Stadium. The Caps travel to Miami FC on May 16 and Montreal Impact on May 19 before returning home to host the Sounders on May 23.
