LV kids shine for 'Caps - North Shore News

Four youth soccer players from Lynn Valley were recently named to the Whitecaps Prospects under-11 boys soccer team that is training for a tour of The Netherlands this summer. Brendan Shaw, Julian Gailiunas, Adam Swanson and Russell Coffin all were chosen for the 16-player team which is made up of players selected from throughout British Columbia. The boys have been training in the Whitecaps Prospects player development program since September of last year and made the cut for the travelling team this spring. On Aug. 13 the team will travel to The Netherlands where their home base will be a complex just outside the town of Nijmegen. During their 14 days in The Netherlands the team will train with professional Dutch coaches and compete against other professional soccer teams' youth squads including PSV Eindhoven, FC Utrecht, and Germany's Bayer Leverkusen.
