Whitecaps Mo Bros reach halftime

As the month of November reaches its midway point, Vancouver Whitecaps FC are continuing their efforts to support Movember, a month-long charity event to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer research.

Several members of the Whitecaps staff, including president Bob Lenarduzzi, have been taking part in Movember (the month formerly known as November) in an effort to raise money and awareness for the Prostate Cancer Research Centre of Canada. Whitecaps participants, known as Mo Bros, began growing and grooming moustaches at the beginning of the month, with the results proving most revealing among those participating at the club.

Looking to build on last year's success, Movember has already raised over $850,000 in donations across Canada, with the Whitecaps raising over $300 to date. Still, more needs to be done, as Whitecaps Mo Bros are hoping to raise a minimum of $1,000 before the end of the month.

Did you know that every year around 24,700 Canadian men are diagnosed with prostate cancer and about 4,300 die of the disease, making it the number one cancer threat to Canadian men? Unlike women, men are typically reluctant to see a doctor or go for regular medical checkups. The aim of Movember is to change this attitude and make men’s health fun by putting the moustache back on the face of Canadian men and raise funds for prostate cancer research.
