Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi is having a hard time getting people to take him seriously at the United Soccer League meetings being held this weekend in Florida.
Lenarduzzi -- like many of the Whitecaps' male office staff -- is participating in Movember (the month formerly known as November), an annual charity event to raise money and awareness for the Prostate Cancer Research Centre of Canada.
Participants -- Mo Bros -- grow moustaches for the month.
"The timing couldn't have been worse," he said, laughing.
"You come to meetings like this and everyone's looking at you. Moustaches were out a long time ago, but at least people ask about it.
"I think if I do this again, I'll just carry a sign."
As far as business is concerned, despite the Atlanta Silverbacks announcing they will take the 2009 season off "to assess the landscape", the USL is expected to remain an 11-team league for 2009.
The expansion Austin Aztex will make up for the loss of Seattle to Major League Soccer, while the Cleveland City Stars will move up from USL-2.
The league could also announce a move to a two-leg championship final.
