Return of the Moose - The Province

The Moose will again be loose at Swangard Stadium.

The Whitecaps announced Tuesday they are picking up the options on attacking midfielders Justin Moose and Vicente Arze, as well as goalie Jay Nolly.

Moose, 25, was an instant fan favourite in his debut season, with his surging runs and surname attracting attention. The North Carolina native bounced back from an osteitis pubis injury to play a key role in the championship run.

Colorado's Nolly, 26, returns after going 14-8-7 with 11 shutouts in his first year, while Arze, a 23-year-old Bolivian, started eight times.

Other key international newcomers from last season, St. Vincent and the Grenadines defender Wesley Charles and Japanese defender/midfielder Takashi Hirano, are expected back, as well.

The Whitecaps are also negotiating for the services of Charles' countryman, 32-year-old forward Marlon James, who last season led the Malaysian Super League in scoring.
