Whitecaps partner with Burnaby Girls SC

Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Burnaby Girls Soccer Club announce a partnership to present several community programs this summer.

The partnership includes a free Whitecaps Community Clinic, a club night at Swangard Stadium, and a Whitecaps FC Summer Soccer Camp.

On May 16, Burnaby Girls will also host a 'Kickin with the Caps' club day at the Whitecaps men’s and women’s doubleheader at Swangard Stadium. Burnaby Girls SC players will participate in a professional pre-game clinic run by Whitecaps players and coaches on the Swangard pitch, as well as act as players escorts, flag bearers, ball retrievers, and more. Burnaby Girls SC members will also enjoy the game from the main grandstand at Swangard. For information on tickets, contact Burnaby Girls SC technical director Matt Holbrook at

On May 19, Burnaby Girls SC will host a Wendy’s Whitecaps Community Clinic at Burnaby Lake East Field. Players ages six to 10 (U-7 to U-11) will be able to practice their soccer skills in an opening skills session, followed by a Wendy's World Cup Tournament. Players will also get to meet Whitecaps men's and women's players, with the clinic free of charge thanks to Wendy's Restaurants. The program is being hosted by Burnaby Girls SC, but registration is open to all boys and girls in the Burnaby area. To register, visit the Whitecaps Community Clinics website by

As part of the Burnaby Girls SC summer program, the Whitecaps will run one specially-designed week-long summer camp July 6 to 10. Each clinic day will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Riverway Park in Burnaby. This camp provides players aged five to 12 (U-6 to U-13) from Burnaby Girls SC - as well as other players from the region - a focused, challenging, and fun Whitecaps professional training environment.

In addition to working with players of all levels, another objective of summer camp week will be to identify talented players by providing them the chance to be evaluated, and be potentially selected to play in the Whitecaps youth system. Former Whitecaps and Canadian national team member Sam Lenarduzzi will lead top-class professional instruction from Whitecaps youth coaches and players during the week.
