PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland's Ryan Pore scored in the first half as the Vancouver Whitecaps FC fell 1-0 to the Timbers on Thursday in United Soccer League action.

Pore scored the match winner at the 30-minute mark, breaking in on the Vancouver goal with fellow striker Keita. Pore then side-stepped a defender in the Whitecaps box before scoring off the back-tracking Wes Knight to give the Timbers the lead.

The win took Portland (10-1-9) into a tie for first place in the USL First Division standings and also extended their remarkable single-season unbeaten run in the league to 19 matches.

Vancouver's record falls to 7-8-4 and they remain in sixth place in the USL-1 standings.

The Whitecaps return home and prepare to host the Charleston Battery at Swangard Stadium on Friday evening.
