MARCUS Haber checked in for his first Albion training session yesterday but Roberto Di Matteo admitted he was not expecting any more trialists before January.

The Canadian under-20 international has until Friday to impress the Baggies head coach.

Di Matteo believes Haber, currently with Vancouver Whitecaps, had a decent pedigree but that it was still too early to form a considered opinion.

The Italian also conceded that the busy festive period deemed it unlikely that any further players would be arriving for tests during the coming weeks.

“He only trained yesterday so I wouldn’t make a judgment,” said Di Matteo.

“He’s a striker, has good credentials and we are always interested at looking at players.

“But I have no plans to bring anyone else in on trial as we have such a busy schedule coming up.”
