EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League crown champions at 2013 Cup Finals

VANCOUVER, BC – Surrey United FC hosted the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL) Cup finals this past weekend at Cloverdale Athletic Park while Coastal FC hosted a successful U-13 Intake Festival for more than 200 participants. 

“There were some amazing matches this weekend at Cloverdale Athletic Park and it was great to see all of the support from Vancouver Whitecaps FC and BC Soccer at both the League Cup finals as well as the U-13 Intake Festival,” said Matt Holbrook, Manager of the BCSPL. “Both Surrey United and Coastal FC did a tremendous job hosting the events and we want to thank them for all of their hard work.”

BC Soccer technical staff were on hand at the U-13 Intake Festival to welcome the few hundred new participants.  The festival was complete with mini games as well as some sunshine making it a great weekend of soccer.  While Coastal FC was hosting the Festival, Surrey United was hosting the League Cup finals at Cloverdale Athletic Park.

The top U-13 to U-17 teams from the BCSPL took to the field to play for the overall league cups on Saturday and Sunday.  Members of Whitecaps FC including club ambassador and Residency staff coach Carl Valentine were on hand at the awards ceremony to present the trophies to all of the winning teams. In the U-13 age group, Mountain United FC took both the boy’s and girl’s league cups while in the U-14 age group Surrey United FC took the boy’s cup and Coastal FC took the girls. Coquitlam Metro-Ford boys and Mountain United FC girls won the U-15 age group cups. In the U-16 age group, Surrey United won the boys and In the U-17 age group, Coastal FC took the girl’s cup while Coquitlam Metro-Ford won the boys. 

The league finals and the U-13 Intake Festival officially mark the end of league and cup play for the BCSPL but this year the winning teams will have the opportunity to travel to Washington State to play for the Inaugural Northwest League Champions Cup.  The Northwest League Champions Cup will take place on December 14 and 15 at Woodinville Sports Field in Washington State.
