Ben McKendry named to USL Team of the Week

VANCOUVER, BC
– After a second straight impressive performance at Thunderbird Stadium, Whitecaps FC 2 midfielder
Ben McKendry
has been named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 10.
The local lad from Vancouver scored his first professional goal in a 2-1 win over Real Monarch SLC – the first ever home win for WFC2. McKendry was also influential the week previous, causing an own goal and setting up the play for the second goal in a 2-2 draw against Oklahoma City Energy FC.
This is the second Team of the Week spot awarded to WFC2 so far this season, with centre back
Craig Nitti
being
honoured in Week 3
for his performance in a
3-0 road victory over Austin Aztex
.
WFC2 are back in action this coming Sunday, May 31 when they host former ‘Caps striker Long Tan and Arizona United SC at Thunderbird Stadium.

Recorded an eight-save shutout as the Roughnecks won their second consecutive contest in the league
D – Emmanuel Adjetey, Charleston Battery:
Combined his defensive duties with positive attacking play in Charleston’s 1-1 draw with Charlotte
D – Damion Lowe, Seattle Sounders FC 2:
Scored the opening goal, and helped S2 record a shutout, as it claimed its first road win by defeating Portland
D – Skylar Thomas, Toronto FC II:
Strong throughout as TFC II earned a 0-0 draw with the Rochester Rhinos in its home opener 
M – Casey Townsend, OKC Energy FC:
Assisted on both goals as Energy FC took a 2-1 win against Sacramento Republic FC
M – Luke Vercollone, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC:
Scored a pair of goals and was solid defensively as the Switchbacks defeated Arizona
M – Derrick Etienne, New York Red Bulls II:
The Academy standout scored his first professional goal, and added an assist, in NYRBII’s 3-2 win against Montreal

Scored his first professional goal as WFC2 claimed its first home win in club history by defeating Real Monarchs SLC
F – Mike Ambersley, Saint Louis FC:
Had a goal, and won a penalty, as Saint Louis played to a thrilling 3-3 draw with Louisville City FC 
F – Miroslav Cabrilo, Pittsburgh Riverhounds:
Had a fine overall performance that was capped with a goal as the Riverhounds took victory in Richmond
F – Matt Fondy, Louisville City FC:
Scored a pair of goals as Louisville came back to tie the game three times and earn a point against Saint Louis FC
