VANCOUVER, BC – Victor Blasco has been chomping at the bit to showcase his skills, and on Saturday, he broke out in a big way.
Victor Blasco scores twice in just over a minute to secure a late win
The Spanish midfielder was named USL Player of the Week after his late-match heroics helped to lift Whitecaps FC 2 to a thrilling 3-1 victory over the weekend.
After coming in as a 77th-minute substitute in a deadlocked tilt with Seattle Sounders FC 2, the 21-year old winger registered a brace in a span of 90 seconds in the dying moments.
The former FC Barcelona Academy player is the first WFC2 player to win the weekly league honour.
Also, defender Christian Dean was named to the bench of the USL Team of the Week after scoring his first professional goal in the 41st minute versus S2.
Blasco and his Whitecaps FC 2 teammates will look to make it three straight Cascadia derby wins when they host Timbers 2 on Friday night at Thunderbird Stadium.
