HOUSTON, TX – Back to business.

Fresh off their first-ever Amway Canadian Championship title, Vancouver Whitecaps FC return to MLS action on Saturday against Houston Dynamo.

The Voyageurs Cup is finally in Whitecaps FC’s trophy cabinet, but there’s a sense around the group that the ‘Caps aren’t done yet. A win on Saturday would move Vancouver back into the top spot in both the Western Conference and the MLS Supporters’ Shield standings.

Kickoff for Saturday’s match is set for 6 p.m. PT at BBVA Compass Stadium. You can watch the match live on TSN and listen on TSN 1410, including a pre-match show at 4 p.m. PT.

VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC

The ‘Caps enter Saturday’s contest second in the Western Conference – one point back of LA.

This will be Vancouver’s final match in what has been the club’s busiest month in MLS. So far, the ‘Caps have lost just one of their seven matches in August. And in league play, they have won three of their last four – most recently, a 1-0 victory over FC Dallas last weekend at BC Place.

With this being Vancouver’s third game in eight days, Robinson said there would be changes to his lineup. Matias Laba is surely to draw back into the team, but beyond that Robinson said he’d assess the players’ energy levels after Wednesday’s Voyageurs Cup triumph.

HOUSTON DYNAMO

This is a big one for Houston.

The Dynamo trail Seattle Sounders FC by three points for the sixth and final playoff position in the Western Conference. They too had a midweek game, falling 2-1 to Colorado Rapids in Denver.

A few Dynamo players to watch include strikers Will Bruin, who has a team-high 10 goals, and Erick “Cubo” Torres, who scored 15 goals in 29 matches with Chivas USA last season.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

This will be the first of two meetings between Vancouver and Houston this season (Whitecaps FC will host them in the team’s regular season finale on October 25).

The ‘Caps are 3W-2L-0D against Houston in MLS – the home team has won every game.

DID YOU KNOW?

Whitecaps FC are averaging 1.73 points per game this season, which tops MLS.
