24 under 24: 'Caps playing more youngsters than any other team in MLS

VANCOUVER, BC – MLSsoccer.com unveiled its annual 24 under 24 list today and three Whitecaps FC players made the cut: Kekuta Manneh, Matias Laba, and Octavio Rivero. 

As discussed here, they each deserve to be there.


But the MLS-leading ‘Caps have received contributions from several players under the age of 24 this year. In fact, they’re the league leaders in that regard – in terms of both the number of players who have seen game action as well as combined minutes played.


Players under the age of 24 have accumulated 12,108 MLS regular season minutes for Whitecaps FC this year. FC Dallas is the next closest team at 9,902 minutes.

* The cut-off date for eligibility for this year's was October 25, meaning players who turn 24 before then are not eligible. Only includes players on a team’s current roster.
