The future is now

The senior men’s national team are also in action today as they face African Cup of Nations finalists Ghana at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC.

Though this is a friendly match, it offers an exciting look into the future for the men’s program. A number of fresh faces have been called into camp, including a trio of Whitecaps FC youngsters. 20-year-old defender Sam Adekugbe and 19-year-old midfielders Marco Bustos and Kianz Froese will all be looking to impress head coach Benito Floro.

They’re not the only recent additions. Queens Park Rangers attacking talent Junior Hoilett has also joined the fold, as well as Glasgow Rangers midfielder Fraiser Aird.

This is a crucial chance for Floro to evaluate his options with one month until the massive World Cup qualifier against Honduras on Friday, November 13 at BC Place.

Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. PT, with a live stream available at CanadaSoccerTV.
