Sunday’s match will be a part of MLS Decision Day, with all Western Conference matches being played simultaneously. Depending on other results, the ‘Caps could finish as high as second place or as low as sixth place in the Western Conference.

Whitecaps FC have already clinched a spot in the 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs. With a victory, the Blue and White will #BringItHome and clinch a home MLS playoff match for the first time. Should the ‘Caps win and LA Galaxy draw or lose at Sporting Kansas City, Vancouver will finish in second place and clinch a bye to the Conference Semifinals. Playoff tickets are on sale now at ticketmaster.ca/whitecapsfc. Playoff tickets will also be on sale post-match at BC Place on Sunday at the Gate A Box Office.

Teams placed third through sixth in the conference will begin the playoffs in the one-match Knockout Round, with third hosting sixth and fourth hosting fifth on either Wednesday, October 28 or Thursday, October 29.

The Conference Semifinals and Conference Championship matches will be two-game aggregate goal series. The top two teams in each conference will receive a bye to the Conference Semifinals to play the winners of the Knockout Round matches. The first leg of the Conference Semifinals will be played on Sunday, November 1 and the second leg on Sunday, November 8.

Following a FIFA international break, the Conference Championship matches will begin with the first leg on Sunday, November 22 and close out on Sunday, November 29.

Of the two clubs that reach MLS Cup, the team with the better regular season record will host the championship game on Sunday, December 6.

Whitecaps FC previously qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2012 and 2014 – playing in the Knockout Round on both occasions. In their first postseason appearance, the ‘Caps fell 2-1 at eventual MLS Cup champions LA Galaxy. Last year, Whitecaps FC dropped a 2-1 result on the road at FC Dallas.

With a win or draw in Sunday’s regular season finale, Whitecaps FC will improve their MLS points total for a fifth consecutive season since joining the league in 2011. The club finished with 28 points in the first season, followed by 43 points in 2012, 48 points in 2013, 50 points in 2014, and now 50 points this season with one match remaining.
