Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today that the club has completed the transfer of Cristian Techera and signed him to a multi-year contract extension.
Get to know “The Bug” a little more below.
1. If you weren’t a soccer player, what would you be?
Wow. I’ve never thought about that, because since I can remember I have always played football.
2. What do you enjoy most about playing with Whitecaps FC?
Everything at the club. And, of course, the city is beautiful. Leaving Uruguay to come to a city so big and beautiful has been great.
3. What are some of your hobbies away from soccer?
Here in Vancouver, I don’t do much outside of the club. This past year, I hung out with Diego and Nico a lot. I also play Xbox and just relax at home.
4. Do you have any superstitions? How do you prepare for a game?
Not really. I drink Mate (a traditional, caffeinated South American drink), as every other Uruguayan. I don’t have any superstitions though.
5. If you were stuck on a deserted island, which one of your teammates would you bring?
I would take Nico.
- When are you happiest?
On the pitch. Since I was little I’ve enjoyed it to the fullest. And being with my family.
7. Who was your favourite player growing up?
I really like Aguero and of course Messi – he’s also left-footed.
8. What’s on your bucket list?
I want to spend more time with my family and friends, enjoy every day.
9. What do you consider your greatest achievement so far?
My biggest achievement so far has been coming to the Whitecaps and making the jump to MLS.
10. What are your goals for the future?
The biggest goal right now is winning a title with the Whitecaps. Making history with the club. And who knows what else?
