VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today their 2016 MLS regular season TV schedule. Canadian national television network TSN will once again broadcast all 2016 Whitecaps FC MLS matches live across Canada.
The upcoming ’Caps regular season will see 24 matches on TSN (TSN1, TSN3, TSN4, and/or TSN5), including First Kick against Didier Drogba and Montreal Impact on Sunday, March 6 at BC Place.
Six of the seven Cascadia Cup fixtures will also be seen live on TSN1. Other noteworthy matches on the channel are the 'Caps visit to New York City FC at the famed Yankee Stadium on Saturday, April 30, and when Orlando City SC and star midfielder Kaká play at BC Place for the first time on Saturday, July 16.
In addition, the three meetings with Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane and LA Galaxy will be broadcast live on TSN1 on Saturday, April 2 and Saturday, August 27, as well as the first Whitecaps FC Monday evening match on July 4.
The rest of the team's regular season matches will air nationally on TSN2.
Calling the action for majority of matches on TSN are the familiar duo of play-by-play commentator Luke Wileman and analyst Jason deVos.
Whitecaps FC will also have three regular season matches that will also be broadcast live on national TV in the United States - on the road at defending MLS Cup champion Portland Timbers on Sunday, May 22 on ESPN, and the home dates against Western Conference sides San Jose Earthquakes on Friday, August 12 on UniMás, and Cascadia Cup rival Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday, October 2 on Fox Sports 1.
