Throwback Thursday: 'BC Place was rocking'

VANCOUVER, BC – It’s time for a Throwback Thursday.

Let’s go back to Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s last home match – a 2-0 loss to Portland Timbers in the 2015 Western Conference Semifinal. It was Vancouver’s much-anticipated first home playoff match in Major League Soccer. And it ended it heartbreak.

It was still a memorable night though for the 28,837 fans in attendance.

And for the players, too.

"I've been in the game 18 years, and played in six countries including the Premier League, and that for me was one of the best atmospheres I've ever been involved in," said retired striker Robert Earnshaw, now the Whitecaps FC U-14 Pre-Residency head coach. "BC Place was rocking. I looked around after about two or three minutes and thought, 'Wow, this is where you want to be.’

The best sporting atmosphere in Vancouver? You be the judge.

Whitecaps FC return to BC Place this Sunday for their season opener against longtime Canadian rivals Montreal Impact (2:30 p.m. PT | TSN 1/3). Limited tickets are still available

You probably won't want to miss out.
