Centre back Christian Dean undergoes successful left foot surgery

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed today that centre back Christian Dean underwent successful fifth metatarsal fracture surgery in his left foot on Wednesday. Dean is expected to make a full recovery in three to four months.


Dean suffered the injury during a training session last week.


A 2014 MLS SuperDraft selection, Dean has made 12 starts in 18 first team appearances for Whitecaps FC across all competitions. Last season, he appeared in all four CONCACAF Champions League matches, and played in three Amway Canadian Championship games to help the 'Caps win their first-ever Voyageurs Cup.


The 22-year old from Palo Alto, California also featured for Whitecaps FC 2 in 2015, scoring his first professional goal on July 4 against Seattle Sounders FC 2.
