Centre back Christian Dean undergoes successful right knee surgery

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed today that 23-year-old centre back Christian Dean underwent successful surgery on Tuesday for a lateral meniscus tear on his right knee.


The defender suffered the knee injury during a training session on Wednesday, May 25.


Dean, the third overall draft pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, has made nine appearances for Whitecaps FC in regular season play.


Last season, Dean appeared in all four CONCACAF Champions League matches, and played in three Amway Canadian Championship games, as the ‘Caps captured their first-ever Voyageurs Cup. The East Palo Alto, California resident also made 10 starts with Whitecaps FC 2 in United Soccer League regular season action.
