Possible scenarios for Wednesday's decisive canChamp semifinal second leg at BC Place

Voyageurs Cup at BC Place

After a 2-0 loss to Ottawa Fury FC in the first leg of the Amway Canadian Championship semifinal last week, it’s do or die for Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Wednesday night at BC Place (7 p.m. PT on TSN2 – tickets still available). Keeping in mind that it’s a two-leg aggregate series and away goals are the tiebreaker, here are the different scenarios for Wednesday’s decisive second leg.

WHITECAPS FC ADVANCE WITH

  • A win by at least three goals (3-0, 4-1, etc…)

WHITECAPS FC FORCE EXTRA TIME WITH

  • A 2-0 win

In the event of a 2-0 win, there will be 30 minutes of extra time (two 15-minute halves). The full 30 minutes must be played regardless of any goals scored and the away goals rule remains in effect. If no goals are scored in extra time, the match will be decided by a penalty shootout.

OTTAWA FURY FC ADVANCE WITH

  • Any win
  • Any draw
  • A one-goal loss
  • A two-goal loss with at least one away goal (3-1, 4-2, etc…)

The winner of the series will advance to face either Toronto FC or Montreal Impact in the two-leg championship final. Toronto FC are ahead 4-2 after securing a home win in the first leg.
