Whitecaps FC select Washingston Huskies fullback Justin Fiddes 17th overall in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Vancouver Whitecaps FC selected fullback Justin Fiddes in the first round (17th overall) of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft on Friday.

  • Started 62 of his 70 appearances in his four years at the University of Washington, tallying 10 assists and adding one goal
  • Received USC Second Team All Far-West Region and Honorable Mention All-Pacific 12 Conference honours in 2017
  • Spent time with the US Soccer Residency Program in Bradenton, Florida in 2011
  • Finished first in the speed test by running the 30-meter dash in 3.84 seconds at the recent 2018 adidas MLS Player Combine

Fiddes, 22, started 62 of his 70 appearances in his four years with the University of Washington Huskies, tallying 10 assists and adding one goal. 


The 5-foot-11 fullback received United Soccer Coaches (USC) Second Team All Far-West Region, and Honorable Mention All-Pacific 12 Conference honours after his senior season, when he was one of only two players to start all 20 of the Huskies' matches, and was second on the team in minutes played.


Hailing from San Diego, California, Fiddes starred at Cathedral Catholic High School and represented the San Diego Surf Soccer Club at the US Soccer Development Academy. Fiddes also spent time with the US Soccer Residency Program in Bradenton, Florida in 2011.
