VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Wednesday that centre back Doneil Henry has been loaned to United Soccer League (USL) club Ottawa Fury FC, with an option to recall.

"Doneil has worked extremely hard to get himself fit this season," said Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson. "This is a great opportunity for him to play in some games and take that important next step in his recovery before returning to the club in a month's time."

Fury FC are 0W-3L-1D to start the 2018 USL season.

Henry, 25, joined Whitecaps FC in December after three years with English Premier League club West Ham United FC, also spending time on loan with Blackburn Rovers FC and AC Horsens. Prior to that, Henry began his professional career with Toronto FC, starting 73 of his 93 first-team appearances across all competitions from 2010 to 2015.

The North York, Ontario native was honoured with the Canadian U-20 Player of the Year award in 2012, and has 20 starts in 22 appearances for the Canadian senior men's national team.
